Air transport in Germany suffered a sharp drop in the number of employees in the service sector as a result of COVID-19, with long-lasting effects. This has particularly impacted baggage loading and unloading services. The high fluctuation of domestic personnel and the upcoming waves of retirements lead to an increasing need in this sector to recruit workers from abroad to counteract the decline in service quality.
The supply of personnel in the logistics sector is significantly higher in Spain than in Germany. As a result, employment conditions are often precarious due to the high rate of temporary contracts and low wages. Thanks to its significantly higher wage level and stable working conditions, Germany therefore represents an extremely attractive long-term alternative for Spanish workers in this sector.
